The Hernando County Radio Control Club otherwise known as HCRCC was first formed in 1980. We are an AMA sanctioned club.

Our primary goal is to help promote the advancement of aeronautics as it relates to model radio control aircraft. We offer guidance in the building and flying of R/C model aircraft.

We also have instructors who will help teach and guide those who have an interest in the hobby but have little or no previous experience with radio control as it relates to flying.
Along with AMA we have a pilot program that is geared to teaching the novice pilot in learning the skills necessary to become a qualified model aircraft pilot.

Our runway is located in a farmer's field that we share with cattle and a few horses. We have a grass runway approximately six hundred feet long.As to the live stock, they usually stay away from the runway, open shelter and safety fences that have been erected by and for the members.

At the present time our members for the most part fly fixed wing aircraft although we have some members who fly helicopters on occasion. We have quite a few members who not only fly with gas and glo but also fly electric.

Because of a Special Use Permit our flying operations are limited to flying from 9:00 AM till sunset, Monday thru Saturday. There is NO FLYING allowed on SUNDAY. The flying field is restricted to members and member's guests only.

In order to fly gas at the field your engine has to be certified for decibels.

Maximum size for HCRCC gas engines is 100cc. Electrics and glow engines do not require sound checks.
Maximum sound level is 96db on soft surfaces and 98db on hard surfaces taken at 20 feet from aircraft, muffler side and running at full throttle.

Information collected for each check is:
Name of owner, Aircraft mfg. (if known), name of aircraft, color, engine size, type of muffler, and results of sound check.
Special note: Checks on an aircraft are as a “unit”, changes to the unit (new engine, different muffler, major structure changes, etc. requires another sound check. Also an engine removed and placed in another aircraft “unit” requires a sound check of its own, etc
For more information please contact Bob Lindman.
Phone: (cell) 352-442-2154  (mail) rlindman122@gmail.com

Gas sound certification for our field is adjusted as follows:

All 51cc to 100cc planes must be sound checked before flying.
All gas planes 50cc or less can be flown without a sound check provided it is a standard aircraft with a standard muffler, and a regular propeller sized for the engine.
Any unique aircraft or special motors may require a check.

This adjustment is made based on sound checks taken on our aircraft and field from Jan 2009 to Nov 2015. And is still in effect today !

If you require a sound check, or think you may need a sound check, Please contact Bob Lindman he will provide guidance or offer a sound check for any of your gas aircraft.

Indoor flying takes place at the PAC (Performing Arts Center) in Timber Pines and is open to everyone, not just HCRCC members.

There is no restrictions as to what to fly except that of the Building. Because of the building size it is suggested that only Micro type aircraft and small helicopters be flown.

Everyone is welcome. You need not fly to come and enjoy.
