March
11, 2008
Pursuant
to the Planning and Zoning hearing of March 10, 2008, the panel voted 3 to 2 to
approve our request for a special use permit with the following conditions:
1) Absolutely no flying or running of
engines before 9 am or after
sunset.
2) The field is closed to flying of any type on Sundays.
3) No "chain saw powered"
aircraft are to be flown at the field. We take this to mean large, loud,
giant scale models, but we need further clarification on this from
county officials, but for now, it means no "giant scale"
models with gas engines.
4) No more then 10 flyers at the field
per day.
We await, in written
form, the County's new restrictions that they have imposed on us.
There are a few more issues but they will not immediately affect our flying at
Potter’s Field.
Until such time, we want to show them, by
good faith, that we are flexible and willing to compromise to come to a fair
and equitable solution. Things didn't turn out exactly as planned, but at least
we didn't completely lose the field.
This may not be the end of it though, if the opposing parties choose to
appeal the decision. We think they
will, so stay tuned, "it ain’t over till it's over".
Also until such time as clarifications are
made it is imperative that we not violate the above conditions as stated.
